Established in 2014, Wai-Spark Electrical was founded by local sparkie Michael Pearse. Michael had been working locally but was ready for the next step in his career when the opportunity to step into business ownership came about. With no business background, but a passion for providing good service, Michael thought he’d just “give it a go”. 10 years later the Wai-Spark Electrical team have serviced hundreds of happy customers throughout the Wairarapa.
We work on new homes, old homes, woolsheds and everything in between. We connect hot water systems, install new power points and assist with shop fit-outs.
Our qualified and certified electricians are known for their personable and professional approach to their work. When you get stuck with a complex electrical problem, we’ll get stuck in and think outside the box until a solution is found.

Meet Michael
Founder of Wai-Spark Electrical
Michael is Wairarapa born and raised, and is a proud family-man. After completing his apprenticeship and working locally, Michael was ready for the next step. After purchasing the assets of an existing electrical business in 2014, he worked for almost 5 years as a one-man-band. He is now the proud leader of the Wai-Spark Electrical team. Michael is a talented guy with interests in hunting, fishing, aviation and photography. Ask him about the plane he is building!
Meet Rory
Qualified Electrician
Rory is your regular down-to-earth electrician with high quality. Having previously been self-employed and contracting to Wai-Spark Electrical he joined the team full-time in 2023. Rory is a whizz with small motors! Rory enjoys time outdoors hunting and fishing, but his real passion lies in the regeneration of our native bush. Ask him about his time spent outside planting native bush!
Meet Steve
Qualified Electrician
Steve is Wai-Spark Electrical’s Welsh Import and moved to Masterton after 8 years on the Gold Coast. He enjoys golf and walking his dog Stonie. He has a real passion for dogs and always has a stash of treats in his van. Be sure to ask him for a doggy treat for your fur baby next time you see him!
Meet Hanson
Qualified Electrician
Hanson joined Wai-Spark Electrical in 2022 after completing his trade through the army. Looking for work closer to home Hanson quickly became an integral member of the Wai-Spark Electrical team. When he’s not busy connecting wires he’s out and about working on his fitness. Ask him about CrossFit!
Meet Liam
Newly Qualified Electrician
Liam joined the team mid-2024 with only 6 months left on his apprenticeship. He has worked hard and proved himself as a valuable asset to the team. We’re very pleased to have this young sparkie, with such potential, as part of our team. Ask him about his work!
Meet Caiden
Apprentice
Caiden started his apprenticeship with us in 2020. He is on track for a long and successful career as an electrician. Caiden is a keen hunter and really into his fishing. Ask him about the best Wairarapa beach to fish at! Meet Quentin
Apprentice
Many of you will recognise Quentin from his time as owner of Stirling Sports. Quentin recently changed careers and began his electrician apprenticeship with us here at Wai-Spark Electrical. As you can imagine Quentin is very passionate about sports – he can often be found cheering for his kids on the sidelines or having a swing at the golf balls. Ask him about his handicap!

Wellington Based Electrician
Hugh is another one of our team who started as a contractor but has come on our books as an employee. He is a good old-school electrician based in Trentham – any electrical work needed over the hill, we’ll send our guy Hugh. Ask him all your tricky electrical questions!

Office Manager
Monica keeps the wheels turning at Wai-Spark Electrical. Monica applies her wealth of knowledge to her role and is always willing to share advice from her previous experience as a business owner. Monica enjoys pilates, walking and getting into the garden. Ask her about her home away from home – Fiji!
